Learning Commons

What is ❝Learning Commons❞?

The "Commons" refers to "a place for sharing" and is intended to support independent learning by providing a place to gather, discuss, and learn together. The Learning Commons is equipped with PCs and other group learning environments to accommodate various learning styles.

 The Learning Commons in Central Library consists of media space, communication space, presentation room, and meeting rooms.

Media Space (54 seats)

Media Space

50 desktop computers and 2 free printers (A4 monochrome only; up to 20 sheets per day combined with the number of sheets in the PC classroom) are available.

*This space is designated for individual study. Please refrain from engaging in conversations.
*ID and password for the TMU Information Network for Education & Research (TMUNER) are required for its use. Please check TMUNERExternal Link website for further details.

Communication Space (approximately 100 seats in total)

Communication Space

This is a conversational space suitable for group discussion and study. Movable desks and chairs can be used in any combination. Reservations are not required.
*Please refrain from grabbing a place or disturbing others.

 

 

Presentation Room (30 seats)

Presentation Room

Reservations required.Available for classes, seminars, symposiums, etc. for a minimum of 3 persons.

 

 

 

Meeting Rooms (2nd and 3rd floor) (6 seats each)

Reservations required.Available for meeting or group learning for a minimum of 2 persons.

 

 

 

 

For rooms that require a reservation
  • Please use for any of the following purposes:
    • Research, education, and learning
    • Class, seminar, and presentation
    • Workshop
    • Exchange among users, joint learning and work
    • Others (details may be checked at the time of application.)
      • During the exam period, the use is limited to research/education/learning related to classes.
  • Reservations may not be approved if any of the following cases: (Please note this in advance)
    • Applications from persons who are not students, faculty, or staff of TMU
    • Reservations made more than 90 days in advance
    • The request exceeds 4 hours per day
    • The number of users is greater than the maximum (or less than the minimum)
    • The purpose of use is inappropriate
  • In addition, semester- or year-long reservations are available upon request for use by faculty members and staff for classes, series of seminars, etc. To reserve the room, please send an email to lib_central●jmj.tmu.ac.jp. *Please replace "●" with "@".
